Capabilities
Our facility currently maintains over 23,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing space and 3,000 sq. ft. office space. All manufacturing and assembly is performed in house using proven HVAC practices and the latest technologies including CNC tube bending. MilAIR's award-winning tube bender project has improved the quality and reliability of our environmental control units (ECUs). The number one reliability issue with a refrigeration system is gas leaks. With the use of this technology, we have eliminated several brazed joints in our refrigeration tubing circuit and thereby improved our manufacturing process.
To further control the quality of our products, all painting is performed on site by qualified technicians in accordance with finish processes that meet or exceed the requirements of MIL-F-14072 and MIL-F-53072. Paint coupons are regularly tested by independent registered laboratories to ensure that our coating system meet specification requirements.
Our strict policy is “Armory Practice” for the manufacture of all our products. Developed by the United States Armory, Armory Practice is the standard in which components possess functional and physical characteristics equivalent in performance, reliability, and maintainability, to another item of similar or identical purposes. Our ISO process and procedures assure that all field and depot level replacement components and assemblies are identical and interchangeable.
All welding completed at MilAIR is performed to documented procedures by certified American Welding Society (AWS) welders. All MilAIR welders are certified for D1.1 Steel and D1.2 Aluminum. All quality inspections and testing is overseen by our in-house Certified Weld Inspector (CWI). All welding equipment is calibrated using document weld procedures for each type of weld and material used. It is our policy to perform all welding in the “Flat Position”. In this position, the welding is performed from the upper side of the joint, and the face of the weld is approximately horizontal. This extra attention maximizes weld quality and strength.
Logistics Support
MilAIR has the capability of providing the following logistics support:
- Technical Manuals - The following Technical Manuals are available upon request. All manuals provided meet best commercial practices.
Installation Manual - Contains all necessary information for field installation of the ECS including any special lifting equipment, handling instructions and safety precautions.
Operations Manuals – Describe the safe operation and field level maintenance of the ECS. This includes adequate information to enable an operator to set-up, test and perform unit level maintenance.
Depot Repair and Part Replacement Procedures – Provide all necessary information to maintain and repair the ECS. This includes exploded illustrations, parts lists and step-by-step removal and replacement procedures.
